History

Geogas is a Brazilian company, established in September 2008, whose main goal is to provide services of compression and treatment of natural gas for the Brazilian onshore market. It was a result of the partnership established in March 2008 with Valerus, an American corporation specialized in the fabrication of equipment to serve the oil and gas industries internationally.

Indeed, in April 2008, Geogas, together with its new partner Valerus, won the bid for compression services in Congonhas Station-Minas Gerais State and in December of that same year won another bid for gas compression in Tapinhoã- Rio de Janeiro State. Both contracts were awarded by the company Transportadora de Gás Associado – TAG.

In the above projects, Geogas, acting as the operating arm of the Valerus-Geogas partnership, undertook responsibility for mobilizing, building and operating the two gas compression plants with total power of 25,000 HP. Thus, in a period of just eight months, Geogas has already taken 25% of the total market share at that time.

The challenge was huge and the result was great, since the two plants were installed in the record time of 100 days in Congonhas and 150 days in Tapinhoã. After both stations were installed, Geogas started the operation and maintenance phase under a contract for 5 years term.

Fueled by the success of these 2 projects and attentive to changes in the gas and energy market in Brazil, Geogas positioned itself to offer integrated solutions for treatment of natural gas to its customers.

Indeed, in 2011Geogas won the bid to provide, under the EPC contract model, the production system (210 MMcsfd) for collection, transport and treatment the gas from Parnaíba Basin- Maranhão State.

This venture became a reference to the industry at an international level, due the adoption of the plant fabrication in modular concept which allows flexibility for manufacturing, assembling, transportation and installation the modules on site. Besides that various shops can be used simultaneously to improve the level of prefabrication activities off site and under roof which save a lot of time on the whole project execution schedule.

The combination of modular and prefabrication concepts has allowed the delivery of the whole Parnaiba Gas Production System in just 55 weeks, from the P.O. issuing date November 11, 2011 to 11/26/2012- date when the gas became available for dispatching to feed a Thermoelectrical Plant. In the peak of the project 300 was employed on site.

Geogas

The Parnaíba Gas Production System encompasses:

  • the surface equipment for monitoring and control the production wells;
  • the pipelines for collection, transport and dispatch the gas;
  • the three-phase fluid separation equipment;
  • the process equipment to specify the gas as per Market requirement;
  • the stabilization, storage and loading device for the condensates;
  • the treatment, tanking and injection of the produced water;
  • the city gate to deliver the gas for the turbines of the power plant;

All systems and subsystems were sized for flow rate of 210 MM scfd and subsequently the facilities were expanded for handling 8.0 MM scfd.
