Since 2020, GEOGAS, with extensive experience in the natural gas market, has been dedicated to finding an alternative solution to mitigate methane releases typically associated with venting and/or blowdowns into the atmosphere during pipeline operations such as repairs, segment replacements, branch derivations, and recertifications. Despite being easy to execute, the venting operation is undesirable for the main reasons:

  • Emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) that contribute to global warming at a rate 28 times greater than CO2;
  • Waste of valuable energy that has already been processed and is ready for consumption;
  • Emission of noise in the surrounding areas.
WHAT WE DO

Geogas offers a “portable” compression system for transferring gas between pipeline sections, avoiding the usual methane releases into the atmosphere during interventions for repairs, recertifications, or network expansions.

Our system has been available in Brazil since January 2023, carrying out the first operations of this kind in the country. This demonstrates that Geogas provides an effective alternative to gas purging, significantly contributing to the decarbonization of our clients’ operations.

MOBILITY, AUTONOMY, AND RELIABILITY

  • Powered by a natural gas engine, making it self-sufficient for work in remote areas;
  • Multi-stage compressor capable of handling large pressure differentials;
  • Equipped with a control panel featuring instruments to monitor operational parameters in real-time;
  • Includes communication logic devices, using satellite communication in remote areas or internet where available;
  • The system is mounted on a single skid with weight and dimensions suitable for transportation by conventional trailers, avoiding traffic restrictions on highways.
